Install PS4 Remote Play and use it at least once. It will require you to plug in Destiny 2 wont download ps4 into PC. For me it works although I need to have earphones plug into pad to work. I'm currently using a DualShock 4 and Steam detected it instantly.
Perhaps it is because I have the Remote Play app installed. Maybe you should try that. But other than that, I didn't have to download any extra files or drivers to get it working. So, I switched from ps4 to pc to play with friends, but I’m still trying to use the ps4 controller. I originally downloaded the f2p destiny 2 version that has partial controller support, which I had to map all my buttons to my controller. I was complete trash with no aim assist. Then I realized if I bought shadowkeep, that it had full controller support with aim assist. If it's the digital download, it's obviously downloading the rest of the game. Pretty much all digital download games let you download a portion of the game to start and then it will download the rest in the background. Destiny 2 seems to need the full game downloaded before starting, probably because of the online-only aspect.
