I grabbed a couple when I first started playing since I didn't want to mess with emb. Above really isn't a mod, but iirc it gives you a pdf that helps you do some. Wrye bash is an alternative. You will probably end up getting it anyways to make bash patches. It's not as convenient, but it should be able to do everything NMM does assuming you can download the mods. Wrye Bash is considered the strongest tool in general I believe. Mod Organiser is similar and more newb-friendly I've heard if you are not super experienced.

Better interface - you can quick-search for a mod, rather than scrolling or dealing with NMM's categories. In my experience, it has been far more stable than NMM. Note also that MO works with Nexus download links, so there's really no downside. I'm considering checking out MO myself due Nexus integration for keeping up to date mods.
